La Montaña
This is now our 4th year bringing in this lot from Don Gerson via Finca San Rafael. As a part of having more tight-knit relationships with producers, it’s not uncommon for us to have conversations regarding feedback and areas where improvements can take place for better lot quality.
When it’s come to our conversations with Don Gerson, our feedback has often been: to change nothing! His lots are just absolutely stellar, full of complexity, sweetness, and just the right amount of fermenty funkiness to make them great!
But…
Instead of taking our feedback, Don Gerson is always asking what more he can do! Without fail, he pushed the limits even farther this year and the results were even more amazing!
Excited for you to try for yourself.
La Montaña derives it’s name from it’s topographical location. It comes from the side of a mountain nearby. hence, La Montaña. So there’s not much to the names but where these lots deserve some solid recognition is in the intentionality behind how they’re processed.
Since 2019, each year he’s processed this coffee in different methods including washed, anaerobic, and natural. After years worth of fine-tuning and cupping feedback from Anacafe, Don Gerson found that his natural processing methods always seem to perform the best.
We’re excited to offer you these coffees coming from a person that’s placed much love, passion, and eagerness to learn. Don Gerson feels like he’s reaching an accomplishment knowing that these lots are finally going to be sold to roasters whom he hopes to meet someday.
(P.S. Buying these coffees might come with a requirement….to visit Hoja Blanca, Huehue with us!)
