My Coffee Journey to COI
Hello! For those of you who haven’t met or heard from me yet, my name is Kristopher Swanson, and I’m the new gringo face at Collaborative Origins! Gosh, what an honor it is to be here. Today, I’m excited to share a bit about my coffee journey and my early days here at COI!
We went to Bolivia!
Many small producers rely almost entirely on coffee as their primary source of income. When prices fall, the revenue they receive often fails to cover the costs of production, leading to debt and economic vulnerability.
Changing the Narrative: Coffee Pricing
Whew—what a time we’re in! The C-Market hit an incredible $3.40/lb in December and is now hovering around $3.25’s as of early January. These prices have undoubtedly left many feeling squeezed, and it’s certainly fair to feel overwhelmed by the rapid changes!
